April 17 - The Classified Section

Yesterday, Cor Unum ran an ad.

“Join us as we press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus has taken hold of us!” (reference, Philippians 3:12)

What will we say if our applicants ask, “Tell us, what is that for which Christ Jesus has taken hold of you?”

Can we answer? Do we know, with certainty, with a full hope, with all assurance and comfort, in the joy and peace of humility. Short answer; big communication –

We are gathered up into Jesus Christ, because He wants to present us to His Father. The Father loves us; Jesus wants to be sure He gets us, and He knows how to do it! We see plainly, as He prays for us in the seventeenth chapter of John, that we have been “apprehended” (taken hold of,) and to a monumental end. What’s more, there is an amazing Father/Son reciprocity: no one comes to the Father but through Jesus, but it’s the Father who reveals the Son to those who will believe.

We have been “apprehended,” as the King James version of Philippians 3:12 states.

We are here, with Him and in Him, that we might love the Father with His love . . . He could want nothing higher for us! . . . and that we might love one another even to the degree that we become one with Him and each other, not in word or platitude only, not even “just” in the truth of the legality of His finished work on the cross, but one in life and esteem and purpose.

We are here that His obedience might become our joy . . . His supplication recorded in that seventeenth chapter makes that clear! As we become conformed to His image (Romans 8:29,) we are becoming peculiar in our happiness, radiant in our hope and powerful in our peace. All astonishing facts: check the ad!
