January 29 – Loving God

We have been looking into the wonders of the love of God, promoted in Scripture by love for others. We have paused to think of the lovely joys we share, serving a God Who asks LOVE of us . . . and love for others, at that.

Is there then, a pure and personal love toward God? What do we think it might be? We might blow Him kisses, or bring offerings to His altar (that’s been done before!)

Again, we know from Scripture what He wants upon every altar . . . He wants every heart! He wants “living sacrifices,” and that is a tall order in our minds, especially until we realize that, as living sacrifices, our vocation is love.

For today, though, we ask, “Is there anything we can do just to give Him our love” . . . personal and up close.

The Abbess says this, that NEARNESS is the premier show of love divine in the courts of Divinity. Shall we explore further?

We have seen that strengthening joy is the result of trusting obedience, and that our joy is meant to be full and that loving obedience promotes joy in the heart of God. What a meaty subject this has been! We are practicing obedience and keeping track of our ready obedience, and all of this toward the product of joy. Now NEARNESS is close at hand, and the nearness of God is our GOOD!
