There was so much more . . . from the Coronation Chicken, a curried specialty by Constance Spry that was printed in ladies’ magazines world-wide, to the unparalleled fireworks display that went on and on that night as Elizabeth and Philip returned to the palace balcony, up until 10:30 when they made their final appearance and Coronation Day. The partying in the streets went on, but Elizabeth had to get some sleep; she had to be at work in the morning.
So now, we too, having taken this exhilarating trip through the wonders and privileges of our own entry into life inside a Kingdom whose King has made us fit to love and serve and celebrate the Heir to all the glories of heaven, and we must get to work. We will be taking a look at the “work” of this Kingdom, which is the “work” of this monastery, remembering that our first responsibility is to “believe in the One Whom (the Father) has sent.”
So we open the lid to our own “red boxes” . . . the blood-colored ones . . . with our own ciphers on the lid . . . “saved by faith through grace” . . . and read this first correspondence of our new crowned and anointed lives . . .
God shall arise, his enemies shall be scattered; and those who hate him shall flee before him! As smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away; as wax melts before fire, so the wicked shall perish before God! But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy! (Ps 68:1-3)
Let us, in Jesus’ Name, beloved ones, set out to find our joy this day, and, as co-heirs with the Son, let us not forsake it for anything, for anyone, for we dwell in a royal house, where sorrow is not meant to disfigure or abide.

Okay.... my family can blame you if ALL their presents are wrapped in solid red this Christmas. I'm thinking it might be a good idea. It would be symbolic of why we celebrate - and at least keep the focus on whose birthday it is.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know that's not what you wanted me to get out of your lesson today - but, I've always been sort of an outside the box person. A total odd ball. But that's okay.... someone in this world should prefer Leah over Rachel - and Rachel seems to get all the glory. After all, she was Jacob's favorite - and Joesph's Momma.... but, I really think Leah one-upped her by giving birth to Judah out of whose line came baby Jesus.
Now.... how on earth did you get me going off on that? I'm way outside the box today!
