June 14 – Here We Go!

Won’t this be fun! A nice FAST together! . . . WITH an investigation into God’s own comments on Christlikeness! Who could ask for more?

Beg pardon? What are we fasting? The Abbess forgot to mention that? Why, here’s the list; it is posted on the Chapter Room door . . . take your pick, dear Sisters!

Fasting choices for the next forty days . . .

1. Unbelief
2. Complaining
3. Excess
4. Lethargy
5. Idolatry

Now then . . . without further ado, Romans 12:1 . . . I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

We are faced with three choices. We may

1) dismiss these words as unappealing, unimportant, or un-possible, or we may

2) take a look and set our jaw and determine that we will, by force of will, accomplish this superhuman task, or we might

3) present our bodies before our Father today, from the heart offering them as a living sacrifice, trusting that our decision and our purpose are holy and acceptable to Him, and deciding by faith that, that which is acceptable to Him as our reasonable service will receive from Him every aid and assistance, every strength and support, every courage and all constancy from His own heart, mind and power.

The Abbess heartily recommends plan #3 . . . and if we choose the L.U.C.I.E. fast . . . forsaking lethargy-unbelief-complaining-idolatry-excess all together, we will finish strong and . . . new!
